Achievement Rewards for College Scientist (ARCS)

Offers scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students pursuing the natural sciences, medicine and engineering career fields.

 

Alfred P. Sloan Foundation

Offers postdoctoral fellowships in chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, economics, and neuroscience or related interdisciplinary field.

 

American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)

The Women’s International Science Collaboration Program provides grants to individual US scientists who plan to establish new research partnerships with their colleagues in Central/Eastern Europe and the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union.

 

American Indian College Fund

Scholarships in education, science, engineering, library science, or mathematics for first-year college students enrolled in one of the 32 tribal colleges located across the U.S.

 

American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES)

Scholarships are awarded to members of AISES who are American Indian or Alaskan Native college students pursuing academic programs in the engineering, mathematics, medicine, natural resources, or land science fields.

American Institute of Chemical Engineers

Offers scholarships to minority students studying or intending to study chemical engineering.

 

American Nuclear Society

Offers undergraduate scholarships to students who have completed one year in a course of study leading to a degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field.

 

American Planning Association

Awards scholarships to students pursuing careers in the environmental sciences, public administration, transportation, or urban studies and awards fellowships for community development studies. Also has a minority scholarship program.

 

American Society for Engineering Education

The Office of Naval Research sponsors a Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at a number of Naval Research and Development centers and laboratories. Special scholarships designed for women are also available.

 

American Society of Civil Engineers

Offers several different scholarship programs to undergraduates and graduates pursuing careers in engineering.

 

American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Offers several different scholarship programs to undergraduates and graduates pursuing careers in mechanical engineering.

 

American Society of Naval Engineers

Offers scholarships to encourage college students to enter the field of naval engineering.

 

American Society of Safety Engineers

Offers scholarships for women pursuing a post-baccalaureate education in safety engineering, safety management, occupational health nursing, occupational medicine, risk management, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, fire safety, environmental safety, environmental health or other safety related fields.

 

American Water Works Association

Offers graduate scholarships and fellowships in aquatic chemistry, environmental chemistry, and drinking water research.

 

American Water Works Association (Minority Program)

The Holly Cornell Scholarship offers financial assistance to outstanding female students and/or minority students who wish to pursue advanced training in the field of water supply and treatment.

 

Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association

Offers scholarships for U. S. military veterans or active-duty personnel to pursue communication careers. Scholarships for nonmilitary (civilian) students are also available in a variety of programs.

 

Associated General Contractor of America Education and Research Foundation

Offers undergraduate scholarships to students who are pursuing a degree in construction and/or civil engineering.

Offers undergraduate to postgraduate internship and fellowship programs for business, science, and engineering.

 

Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation

Offers moderate financial awards to winners of The Young Investigator Competition. The competition provides opportunities for graduate students involved in basic and applied research in the biomedical engineering and clinical engineering management fields to communicate their ideas and findings to others.

 

Association of Iron and Steel Engineers

Offers an annual Merit Scholarship Competition for sons and daughters of AISE members.

 

Astronaut Scholarship Foundation

Offers undergraduate scholarships to students pursuing engineering and science careers.

 

AT&T Laboratories

Offers fellowships and undergraduate research programs to students pursuing careers in communication sciences, computer sciences, electrical engineering, mathematics, and other related subjects.

 

AT&T Laboratories / Minority Program

Offers fellowships and undergraduate research programs to underrepresented minorities pursuing careers in communication sciences, computer sciences, electrical engineering, mathematics, and other related subjects.

 

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship & Excellence in Education Foundation

Offers scholarships to students pursuing careers as scientists, mathematicians, and engineers.

 

Bell Laboratories and Lucent Technologies Foundation

Offers the Graduate Research Program for Women, which is designed to identify and develop research ability in women and to increase female representation in science and engineering.

 

Broadcast Designers Association Foundation

Offers scholarships to minority students majoring in graphic design, electronic media, and computer studies.

 

Brookhaven National Laboratory

Offers the Renate W. Chasman Scholarship for women whose education was interrupted to continue their formal studies in science, engineering or mathematics.

 

Brown & Caldwell Environmental Engineers

Offers scholarships for students pursuing civil engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or one of the environmental sciences.

 

Burroughs Welcome Fund

Offers a variety of educational programs, awards, grants, and scholarships to students at the postgraduate level who are pursuing careers in biomedical and medical sciences.

 

Charles Babbage Institute

The institute offers the Adelle and Erwin Tomash Graduate Fellowship in the history of computing and information processing.

 

Computing Research Association

Offers a cash award to outstanding students who are majoring in computer science, computer engineering, or an equivalent program. 

 

Datatel Scholars Foundation

Offers four different types of scholarships programs: minority, returning student, technology studies, and resident student.

 

David and Lucile Packard Foundation

Tribal Scholars Program awards up to 15 scholarships annually to support graduates of tribal colleges who are admitted to four-year colleges and universities for study in science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics.

 

Delta Gamma Foundation

The foundation supports its members through a variety of educational fellowships, grants, and loans. Also awards, on an individual basis, grants for members to pursue careers in science.

 

Development Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology

Offers scholarships to African-American undergraduate students enrolled in scientific or technical fields of study at historically Black colleges and universities.

 

Encompass     

Offers merit-based scholarships to members, or children of members, to pursue computer technology careers.

 

Energy Rubber Group

Offers scholarships to full-time students enrolled in any accredited four-year Bachelor of Science program, majoring in Engineering or the Applied Sciences.

 

Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute

Offers fellowships and summer internships for undergraduate and graduate studies in aquaculture, biomedical marine research, engineering, environmental analysis and monitoring, and marine sciences and medicine.

 

IBM  

Offers two main types of Fellowships: the Research Fellowship is awarded to students wishing to pursue a career in IBM's Research Division, and the Cooperative Fellowship is intended for students wishing to pursue a technical career in advanced technology, product development and related research areas.

 

INROADS/Puget Sound Texaco Scholarship

Offers undergraduate scholarships to minority students pursuing fields of engineering, geology, geophysics, physics, information systems, and international business.

 

Intel Corporation

Intel awards renewable scholarships for women and underrepresented minority students at a number of Intel site partner universities in the U.S.  The Intel Corporation also sponsors competitions that recognize and reward excellence in science research.

 

International Society for Optical Engineering

Offers undergraduate and graduate scholarships and grants in optical science and engineering fields.

 

International Society of Explosives Engineers

Offers undergraduate and graduate scholarships in the study of explosives in mining, construction, forestry, manufacturing, quarrying, and other commercial pursuits.

 

Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society

Newly established scholarship program for graduate and undergraduate students who demonstrate outstanding potential for long-range contribution to the fields of instrumentation, systems, and automation.

 

Lucent Technologies

Offers global science scholarships to high school seniors pursuing engineering, information technologies, or physical sciences.

 

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

A special 100% scholarship-based program which is a rigorous six week residential summer program that introduces promising minority high school juniors to engineering, science, and entrepreneurship. The program is designed to encourage students to pursue technical degrees and careers.

 

Microsoft 

The Microsoft Women's Technical Scholarship Program is designed to encourage women to pursue studies in computer science and related technical disciplines.

 

National Hispanic Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees

The Rene Matos Scholarship program assists minority and women students in completing their higher education by recognizing and rewarding academically superior performance, achievements, leadership, and community involvement. Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to any undergraduate, graduate, or technical/vocational student.

 

National Physical Science Consortium

Offers women a doctoral graduate fellowship program in physical sciences and related engineering fields.

 

Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education

Offers the Alexander Hollaender Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in which study is directed at understanding the health and environmental effects associated with energy technologies and biomedical and environmental sciences.

 

Semiconductor Research Corporation

Offers a Master's Scholarship Program for the purpose of attracting qualified students who are also in under represented minority categories to graduate study in areas of interest to the semiconductor industry.

 

Siemens Foundation

The Siemens Foundation provides more than $ 1 million in college scholarships and awards each year for talented high school students to pursue education in science and engineering.

 

Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum

Offers a variety of fellowships for graduate and postgraduate studies in aerospace history and aviation history.

 

Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS)

Fellowships and scholarships awarded to Chicano/Latino and Native American students to pursue graduate education and obtain the advanced degrees necessary for research careers and science-teaching professions at all levels.

 

Society for Technical Communication

Scholarships for students pursuing careers in editing, graphic design, interface design, technical writing, and web design.

 

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

Offers undergraduate and graduate scholarships to Hispanic engineering and science majors.

 

Society of Manufacturing Engineers

Offers scholarships to full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing engineering technology, or a closely related engineering field of study. Special scholarships for women also available.

 

Society of Women Engineers

Offers freshmen and graduate levels scholarships to female minority students studying computer science or engineering. Also offers a reentry scholarship program for women returning to engineering and computer science studies.

 

Texas Tech University - Koh Family Scholarship

Offers the Koh Family Scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in engineering.

 

Transportation Clubs International

Offers scholarships to Mexican American students studying civil engineering, logistics, traffic management, or transportation.

 

U. S. Department of Defense

The DOD Environmental Scholarships and Fellowships Program are designed to qualify personnel in engineering, biology or other qualifying fields related to environmental activities for environmental positions (enlistment) in the DOD.

 

U. S. Department of Energy

Offers several different undergraduate and graduate fellowships, summer internships, and research programs related to a variety of energy studies.

 

U. S. Environmental Protection Agency

Offers grant, fellowship, and internship programs to students pursuing careers in environmental policy, regulation, and law; environmental management and administration; environmental science; public relations and communications; and computer programming and development.

 

U. S. Federal Aviation Administration

Offers several different scholarship and grant programs for study in aircraft electronics and aviation fields. Also offers scholarships for women pursuing aviation or aircraft electronics.

 

U. S. Indian Health Service

The IHS has several scholarship programs available to American Indians. Offers scholarships for students pursuing education in accounting, business administration, computer science, or health disciplines.

 

U. S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration

The Gamma Ray Observatory Fellowship Program provides scientists of unusual promise and ability opportunities for research on problems that are related to gamma-ray astronomy.

 

U. S. National Aeronautical and Space Administration WISE Program

The Spelman Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Scholars Program offers female students scholarships to pursue undergraduate studies in science and engineering at Spelman College, a Historically Black College and University in Atlanta, Georgia.

 

U. S. National Highway Institute HSI Program

The Eisenhower Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) provides HSI students with opportunities to enter careers in transportation. This fellowship program also serves as a feeder for other Eisenhower programs. Also offers fellowships to African American students.

 

U. S. National Highway Institute TCF Program

The Eisenhower Undergraduate and Graduate Tribal Colleges Fellowships (TCF) identify transportation-related activities for both students and faculty at Tribal Colleges. This fellowship program also serves as a feeder for other Eisenhower programs.

 

U. S. National Institute of Health

The NIH is one of the world's foremost medical research centers, and the Federal focal point for medical research in the U.S. The NIH offers undergraduate scholarships in biomedical research as well as several other medical areas. Also offers scholarships for minorities and students with disabilities.

 

U. S. National Research Council

The NRC Research Associateship Programs are awards made to doctorate level scientists and engineers who can bring their special knowledge and research talents to work in research areas of interest to them, to the host laboratories, and to the Research Centers.

 

U. S. National Science Foundation

Funds research and internships for education in engineering, mathematics, and the physical sciences.

 

Whitaker Foundation

Offers undergraduate and graduate research grants, fellowships, and internships in biomedical engineering.

 

White House, The

Offers the White House Fellowships to professionals pursuing political science careers. The highly competitive Fellowships allow for the opportunity to participate in the day-to-day business of governing the nation. Also offers special awards for engineering, mathematics, and science.

 

Winston Churchill Foundation of the United States

Offers fellowships to graduate students to pursue their studies in engineering, mathematics, sciences, and a few other disciplines at Cambridge University, England.

 

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution

Offers guest student fellowships and summer programs for those interested in marine sciences and research.

 

Xerox Corporation Technical Minority Scholarship Fund

Offers undergraduate and graduate scholarships to minority students studying chemistry, engineering, information management, physics, and material science.

 

Zonta International
